Flight to Islay
August 2008

for anyone interested in what it is like to fly to Islay here are some pictures I took when returning home in August 2008
somewhere over the Isle of Bute - 15minutes into the flight from Glasgow airport
slightly blurred but definately Islay
Lagavullin Distillary
the twin bays of Port Ellen
Kilnaughton beach and Port Ellen lighthouse
CLIFFS OF THE OA
THE OA - with the American Monument
at the tip of the cliff
swinging around for landing and we see Laggan
the villages of Port Charlotte and Bruichladdich in the distance the Atlantic Ocean
this time its Laggan Farm with Bowmore just visible as a white blot before LochIndaal and the Bridgend woods in the distance
with the wonders of modern cameras the same shot using the zoom lense and here is Bowmore with the distillery warehouses and the Round Church in view
(as well as my house)
25 minutes after leaving Glasgow and getting ready to land -  below 7 miles of beach - no problem getting a good spot for lying in the sun
