Christmas Nativity Puppets

With Christmas coming upon us all to quickly. Here at the Islay Quilters we have been asked by Kilhearan Sunday School to make them puppets, to help the children remember the real message about Christmas.
The best template we could use is the Bible
Suzanne had patterns for rag dolls, we used fire resistant stuffing for heads and bodies, and Rosemary embroidered the faces.
made by Isobel
Mary is nearly finished and looking very lovely,

Rosemary, Isobel and Ella have been busy for the last week, and not long to go
HOMEPAGE
now Mary is seen in all her glory
next we have Joseph, fairly plain cloth was used and his tunic is tied with a rope belt, his shoes, trousers and under garment are all made out of hessian.
I hope Joseph doesn't mind me showing his legs and shoes
Shepherd No.1 we have made him an older man, again keeping to woven fabric and someones sheepskin mat as a cape. wool was used to make the belt and a twig as his crook.
our shepherds have leather sandels, thanks to Isobel cutting up an old handbag (at least I hope it's an old one).
here the King is awaiting his new clothes before embarking on a long trip, following a star in search of the NEW KING BORN
all dressed up and waiting on his companions
curtain trimming has never looked so good.
as we say in Scotland, what a 'braw' pair of legs. boots curtisy of Isobels handbag, with some trimming to spruce them up.
King No2 and a brighter costume, a red velet and gold bias, gold ribbon and someones fancy shirt as a tunic
We decided to have a female Angel (I hope Gabriel doesn't mind) her hair is made of 'trapunto wool and various strands of different kinds of yarn, some metalic to give a shine.
she has gold sequin eyes and cheeks, gold braid surrounds the top of her satin dress, which also has a lace hem.
the wings are 'crystal orgainsa' and is held in place by some of my husbands thick plastic coated wire tipexed white
